It is with great sadness that I share that a dear friend and colleague and lovely human being, Nancy Johns-Price has passed away. When I started at SEAC in October 2021, Nancy saw what I was trying to do and took me under her wing introducing me to so many different people, (including advocating Mayor Evans to meet with me) as well as a wide array of organizations, many of whom we have collaborated with on amazing projects over the years. Nancy was constantly shouting praise about what SEAC and what we were getting up to, including starting up the Tool Shed and spreading the excitement. She advocated for Janet Collinge to join SEAC’s board in July 2021, shortly before I was hired, and who has been amazing to have as part of our agency. She poked her husband Jim to volunteer at the Tool Shed when we first opened our doors, he instructed over a dozen classes over nearly two years before he got sick and had to depart… Nancy was an unstoppable force for good and change. A champion of the community and a constant advocate for the under represented. Mayor Warren bestowed the Key to the City when she retired to go work on Malik Evans’ campaign.

A bright light has left the world, and I shall mourn her loss… and it’s our job to carry that light and life in our hearts and actions, continuing to strive for a better tomorrow.
